The Adventures of Maggie and Sammi

The scene at Rooster's Restaurant last Saturday...

The manager is visiting each table in the restaurant asking if anyone in the restaurant owns a chocolate lab. Hmmm...why you ask, that's strange. Upon reaching our table, Bob replies "Why yes, yes we do." After much discrepancy as to the size and whether it really could be Cass and Bob's beloved dog Maggie, the manager says "Well you should probably come check since the dog is running through the restaurant." Yup... it was Maggie! The 75 pound, superdog strong Miss Maggie decided to check up on her father Bob or maybe just order a rack of ribs. She and sister Sammi managed to escape "the traveling kennel" (truck with a shell) by somehow opening a window and jumping to freedom. Sammi of course was wearing her winter hooded vest to keep warm, don't worry.

Well can you blame a girl for being worried about her parents.

Just thought I'd throw this one in... here is Sammi modeling her new very fashionable bikini with Auntie Didi.

And need I say any more about the antics of Maggie and Sammi... I just love these dooduns!

1 year, 50 Blog Posts and 4780 Photos Later...

Almost exactly a year ago I embarked on a new adventure. Still reeling from the loss of The Red One, I needed something to jump start the passion that has always lived inside me. I needed to reconnect myself with the beauty of the moment. Somehow I had to find a way to put aside the "whys" and "what ifs" of unrealized dreams and plans. So...I purchased my first SLR camera and started a new journey.

This camera along along with other things has helped rekindle the passion that lie dormant inside my broken heart. I have learned to once again love and appreciate the little things in a day. My life that was once so beautiful and perfect I like to call Chapter 1. And now I find myself in Chapter 2, and it is also beautiful and I will find a way to make it perfect in a completely different way. Life for me... is right here, right now! Once again I am able to find and treasure those priceless moments and share them with those around me in this little blogging Universe.

For my birthday, I was tickled to receive a new Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens... feeding my new hobby is expensive. But the new lens is fabulous! Izzy is tired of posing at this point...but click on the pooch's pic for a larger view and check out the detail of those eyelashes!

Welcome to Honey Night

What would a room full of Beekeepers do for fun... have a Honey Tasting Party of course! Papa Smurf and company, the Winwards and the Harker's joined us for an evening of Bee-utiful food and some really sweet company. We started the evening with a honey tasting... including honey from all parts of the world. As the votes were tallied we learned that Paris has terrible honey and Steve the Queen's honey was the favorite. A special thank you to Leisa for helping with the picture taking

The bowls are all lined up for the tasting.

We used homemade rolls, Dave's wheat bread, and breadsticks to do the tasting.

This was serious business.

Camber and Riley were good sports... both were probably wondering when they were going to get real food to eat for dinner.

Bob looks like he's refereeing a shouting match here. Relax guys... it's just a friendly neighborhood honey tasting party.

After the tasting we dined on Honey and Lime Glazed Salmon on a bed of sauteed corn, black bean, and Spinach. Dave grilled up a batch of his famous smoked ribs with honey. We also enjoyed a harvest green salad with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette, and don't forget the homemade Honey Rolls...are you noticing a trend yet?

Dave's famous ribs otherwise known as meat candy!

I look like I'm whispering in Dean's ear at this point...

And if we weren't already completely stuffed, for desert we enjoyed warm Apple Pie with Honey Ice Cream. Do you realize how many bees it took to prepare this meal? Thank you to our little bee friends in the backyard. The bees are all tucked in for winter...see you next year girls, and thanks for a great dinner!

It's The Caribbean Man...

We ran away to the Caribbean for a week and it was awesome! I hope you enjoy a few pics from the vacay. We stayed on the island of St Thomas which is 13 miles long by 4 miles wide. Although a US territory they drive on the left-hand side of the road in regular American cars. And that's just where the adventure starts. Upon arrival you immediately slip into "island time" and find yourself easily just chilling and soaking up the sun. The Caribbean was just perfect for Dean and I.
